The Story Behind the Sauce

When you love barbecue but can’t find the perfect sauce, there’s only one thing to do — make it yourself. That’s exactly what Richard Pollard, a retired firefighter and EMT from Claxton, Tennessee, decided to do.

At the request of his son, Richard created what would become Smokey Mountain Firehouse BBQ Sauce — a rich, smoky blend that’s not too sweet, not too vinegary, and just the right balance of flavor. What started in his kitchen soon became a hit at local farmers markets and craft fairs, where visitors couldn’t get enough of its bold taste.

Richard’s wife, Connie, helps share the sauce through her business, ConniLu’s Heavenly Sweet Treats, alongside cotton candy, kettle corn, and caramel corn. Together, they’ve built a loyal following of barbecue lovers who all agree —

“A smoky, balanced flavor — not too sweet, not too vinegary — just right for ribs, chicken, and everything in between.”

Cooking has always been part of Richard’s life. From making spaghetti sauce and beef jerky marinades to creating his signature BBQ recipe, every batch is made with care, tradition, and a touch of Southern pride.

A Taste of Home

Smokey Mountain Firehouse BBQ Sauce isn’t just a condiment — it’s a story bottled up and shared with every pour. Whether you’re grilling ribs, pulled pork, or chicken, this sauce brings a firehouse-tested, family-approved flavor to every meal.

Born in a Firehouse Kitchen

Between calls, our crew perfected a sauce that could handle the heat. It started as a way to feed neighbors during fundraisers. Now it’s the bottle we won’t grill without.

A portion of every bottle supports firefighter causes.

The right amount of sweet with a little fire at the end. Bought three more bottles.
